The introduction to a personal website is problematic for a number of reasons, at least for me.
First: the very fact that one has a website assumes there is something worth reading, uncovering, or in some way provides something valuable to your interest. What a self-serving, self-affirming notion: a personal, exclusive, official website dedicated to the life of one so precious that it is a necessity that random moments are documented for the betterment of you oh-so-lucky readers.
Second: in what way should this interesting information be presented? What form should it take? And suppose with me that the nature is scattered- you know, not a cohesive, themed idea or professional statement, but instead a hodge-podge of thoughts, inquiries, and analyses that is more like a bag of Skittles instead of your traditional Hershey Bar of a website.
And further: assuming (1) a worthiness of interest and (2) a format capable of supporting an assortment of "life-notes," then becomes the troublesome part: who is going to read it? And all of their assumptions and previously conceived perceptions of who I am (or even worse, maybe none at all) become dependent on this HTML-constructed "me." The limitations of format, language barriers, cultural barriers, contextual information, the endless possibilities for misunderstandings, blatant mistakes, and even misspellings may forever alter the impressions conjured when the name "Cash Forshee" comes to mind.
How long do they plan to stay on this personal website, and to what depth to they hope to explore my personally shined-and-waxed presentation of myself? The pressure in fulfilling the curiosity of a good friend, a distant relative, a prospective client, or a business partner all in one place! Every person coming with an agenda potentially different than my personal, self-satisfying agenda, ready to make judgment on every aspect of this public space on the Internet.
This is far too much pressure for me. Good luck to you.
